Aperture: Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 September 2026
Aperture (“the app”) is made by Maladeta Studio, S.L. (“we”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: your photos, your location and anything you type never leave your device. If you allow it, the app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports that can’t identify you.
What the app accesses, and why
- Camera: to show the viewfinder and take photos. Camera frames are processed on your device and are never sent anywhere.
- Photo Library (add only): to save the photos you take. Aperture can add photos to your library but cannot see or read the photos already in it.
- Location (optional, off by default): only if you turn on “Add location to photos” in Settings. The position and the direction the camera faced are then written into the photos you take, on your device. We never receive it. You can turn this off at any time in the app or in iOS Settings.
What we collect
Aperture has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. We never receive your photos, their location, their metadata, the artist or copyright text you set, or anything else you type.
With Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage data switched on (the default), the app sends two kinds of anonymous data:
- Usage statistics via TelemetryDeck (Germany): which features are used — for example the photo format and rough zoom level of a shot, whether a long exposure or Camera Control was used, when the upgrade screen was shown and whether a subscription started — plus device model, iOS and app version. TelemetryDeck receives only a one-way hashed, per-install identifier; it can’t be linked to you or to other apps.
- Crash and error reports via Sentry: what went wrong in the app’s code, device model, iOS and app version. Reports never include screenshots, photos, your name or your IP address as an identifier.
We use this only to find bugs and decide what to improve. It’s never sold, never used for advertising and never combined with other data. Turn the switch off and nothing more is sent from the next time Aperture opens.
Purchases
Aperture Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We don’t receive your payment details. Apple lets the app know whether a subscription is active, and that check happens on your device. Apple’s handling of purchases is covered by Apple’s own privacy policy.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date above. If we ever start collecting data, we’ll say so here and in the App Store privacy details before doing it.
